    Talking Brakes?

hey guys.. just wondering i got a quote to redo all my brakes ( machine all 4 discs and new pads and a brale fluid flush it cost $600 ) ... i fell on my ass when i saw the price...

just wondering how i would go about doing it myself... i have heard thet Bendix pads are pretty good and i can get a set of four for $130 and discs i can get DBA normal rotors for $70ea and slotted for $160ea.. i was going to go slotted at front and normal at rear.. ( front slotted more for looks :P )

now another thing is it easy to replace pads? what do i have to do? how do i take them off and do they fit in buy clips?

also the rotors i have no idea how to take them off? how do i take them off...

is it easy to do a brake bleed.. whats involved..

also when replacing rotors is it necessary to replace all bearings?

thanks a lot guys.. all replies are greatly appreciated... i have no idea how to do this.. :P

    Hey man,

Hope this helps with the pads: VN - VS: Replacing the Brake Pads (Disc Variety)

This is for VT- VX but may also help you in some ways: How to: Change pads and rotors.

Im probably not educated enough to tell you how to change the rotors, From what i remember its not difficult at all, but my memory is real fuzzy, so hopefully someone else can tell you. Once you're in there doing your pads, you'll probably see that rotors wont be too much of an issue. I think you remove the centre cap from the rotor, you'll see it staring you in the face. Then theres a bolt (close to 18mm) underneath it.

Not sure if thats right..........it probably is way off.

    Hi mate,

Those prices are a little over inflated...
Rotors -> RDA Standard & High Performance Disc Rotors

I got new rotors and pads , regrease repack wheel bearings on front end done for $400

It can be a pain in the ass to do if the bolts are seized ... which happens alot ..

the bleed nipple on calipers can seize so thats more $$$

$600 does seem alot .. call other places and tell them what you need done .. $500 would be fair for all that work.
