    Default power steering issue

Hey guys. my power steering has recently started leaking, it has gone through over a litre of fluid within the past week, and is making a huge mess of my engine bay!! I wasn't able to figure out whether it was leaking from the pump, or from the fluid box, but i broke the box where the fluid goes taking it off anyway, and the pump looks to be fairly old, and was never the best to start with. My question is, what do i have to do, on order to drive it without power steering?. I know it will be heavy, but at least it will be back on the road until i can afford to have it fixed...

I am not 100% sure but i think without fluid the steering rack wont have any lubrication.

I wouldnt advise driving long distances without the pump. The rack and seals rely on the fluid for lubrication as said above. When you move the rack without the lines connected its going to squirt all the remaining fluid out leaving it dry. Manual racks are greased up and are a slightly different setup.
