Okay so I have some HSV VY senator sigs in my shed at the moment that I purchased a while ago, and a mate of mine has some tyres he had that are only about 5 months old and in near new condition, they are: 245/35 R 19 W. Will these fit on my sigs? and on my vn properly? it has king springs sl all round, is it advisable to get a camber kit or spacers or anything like that?
I am fully aware that spacers over a I think 5 mm (could be 3mm) are illegal, but so are 19's on a VN as you can only go 2" up or down, so if they would make the wheels fit better or reduce wear I would be willing to put them on. But thanks for the advice on the chamber kit as I don't know much about that kinda stuff. I'm only really looking at these because they are cheap, but if they prove to be unsuitable I would defiantly stear clean of them and wait to buy better suited ones.
Yes - Spacers are illegal and 245's probably won't fit on the front
No - 19's aren't illegal in Vic and you don't need a camber kit or spacers

Considering that VN's came stock with 15" wheels, putting them on 19's is illegal, as you are only aloud to go up or down 2", so legally I should only go up to 17's, I was told this at trade school.(automotive cert III)
Will they fit and rub like a biach or will they simply not fit at all? and if they were to majorly rub would spacers help this? Also about how long would they last me if they were to rub?
Where did you go to trade school? SA has the 2" rule (do they still??) but as long as you fit the right size tyre and don't increase or decrease the rolling diameter by much then you are fine with any size in Vic.

Geelong Gordan Tafe. I'm just going on what I was taught, but again I know a 3rd year that said they have been wrong about a bit so, they could of got this wrong too, or just outdated.
PLEASE JUST LOOK AT THE VICROADS SIGHT. Modifications Section 8 Number 8
"The overall diameter of any replacement rim and tyre must not be:
*more than 15mm greater than the largest diameter tyre specified by the vehicle manafacturer for that model or vehicle series; or
*the same but less than, I dont think anyone is going to go for the smallest legal rim however.
If the biggest whell that any VN came out with was a 17", then you can go 15mm bigger than that in total diameter on any other VN, exec or whatever.

hey bro!.. look in my opinion just put them on..i strongly advise that you roll your guards and even maybe a adjustable pan hard rod..( if u need the rod ) if u get in trouble u know not to do it again!...sell the wheels and get new ones bro..
it's better than people arguing while there still sittin in the garage doin nutin ..right..LOL
let us know how u go man...
If they don't fit, I dont think I will sell the wheels, but the tyres I will. How would I go about rolling the gaurds?
if u wana run 19s legally in nsw we just get vt ss tyre placards or sumn that reads higher as thery dont show model just say commodore and run 235 at the front
skruba
I would get someone to do it for you, they used to charge about $25 per guard, its just a special tool, whatever you do, don't let someone tell to just use a hammer, you'll definitely crack the paint and start the rusting and it look crap and yes people do that to their cars.
I'd do the front and rear. I think tyre places you're looking at about $70 a corner.
You can do it yourself, but use a heat gun!!! If you don't heat up the paint first, you will crack the paint when you hit it. Also, use a rubber mallet, or something to pry it back, don't just hit it with a normal hammer.
I don't think I trust myself enough to start smacking shit with a hammer.. anything mechanical yeah but I dont wanna break anything that I can easly fix lol.
I chose not to go with the 245s because I really can't afford to take the risk of them not fitting at the moment. I'll have to look for something about 225s or 235s something that wont rub like a bitch, but with them is it still a good idea to get my gaurds rolled?
will help havin it rolled i rekon it looks gud if done properly
and wif tyre placard as long as its put on clean wat can he say argue all day the placard ses wat it ses thats all that matters
Yeah but skruba you can't really argue with cops, even if you win you lose.. =/
lol Police actually carry a book that lists all the standard rim sizes for each model (same as the correct ride height for each model, steering wheel size etc.) so changing your placard won't save you.
Also its highly illegal to change your tyre placard, its no different to changing any other placard or id plate on the vehicle. There are large fines involved as well as the extra defect.
