    Default smoke from around heads?

i replaced my rocker/valve covers, with an aftermarket set, and when i started the car up, there was a bit of smoke coming from around them. I shut it off straight away, could i have done something wrong, or am i just being paraniod? I was thinking maybe they had a bit of a coating on them somewhere, or a bit of gasket sealant caussing the smoke?

Yeah I don't think you can really go wrong when taking off rocker covers. The smoke is most likely either oil from when you removed the old gasket or something. Unless you have the gasket in the wrong way.

Gaskets are definately on right, i applied a small amount of gasket sealant to them, and let itsitfor about half an hour before i fitted them. I think i'm just being a bit paraniod, and it was just a bit of degreser of something burning off. But it's just the smoke wasnt coming from the headers, well it didnt look like it, it looked like the smoke was coming from around both of the heads..

Generally speaking with engines, if it smokes for a few minutes, it's nothing to worry about. If it keeps smoking (or you can see flames), then duck and cover.

while i'm sorting things out, another question. I replaced my injectors today, and when i was putting everything back, i found a small rubber hose, about 5-6 inches long, and cou'dnt remember where it came from. I connected it the the (drivers side) at the back of the fuel rail, and then to a bit sticking out from the bottom of the thottle body. is it in the right spot? because it starts straight away (never done that before) but as soon as you rev it, it just dies...Sorry about the crap picture, it was dark, and i took it with a toch..

the hose which runs from the feul return? into the side of the plenum. It's ok, i found a photo i had, and was able to zoom in, and that's how it was before. I kept starting it, and finally it stopped stalling when i revved it, and now it runs properly. Maybe the computer had to reset itself or something? And i think the smoke may be coming from the power steering fluid which split onto the headers when i was changing the pump. I think it all ok now, i was just being a bit paranoid lol.
