Hey, this is my first post on the site, as I've only recently got myself a commodore.
I've bought a 1993 VP SS commodore with a SS Group A body kit and after a couple of weeks of owning it i've a few questions I need to ask.
1- What is the recomended Engine / Gearbox Oil for my car? it's a manual and I'm pritty sure the engine is 100% original.
2- I've read on these forums that you can go all the way up to 20 inch wheels, I'm not looking for an extreme size quite like that.. possibly 18's but as wide as possible with as much dish. How wide can you go in one of these things stock? and how would you be able to push that size out slightly without rolling guards and the like? 18 x 10 would be a dream come true, but im not sure of what kind of work would be necissary to do that.
3- What kind of fuel is recomended for the 5L? I'm making sure to put 95+ in it every time I go into a gas station but i'm a bit weary of putting that ethanol blend petrol into it, how do the 1990's commodores take that stuff?
And finaly
4- I've been having an issue with dash lights popping up frequently, just crusing down the highway. its only the ABS and Battery lights that seem to do it, they both come on and then after a moment or too they dissapear. Anyone had this problem previously? and is there a quick fix?
Cheers for any help you can provide on these questions.
1- use a decent 20/50 weight oil for the engine and for the gearbox its all what ya prefer i guess, some people like the gearbox oil and others like the auto fluid with additives, i personally use auto fluid with a bottle of penrite lubrizol and i wont change to anything else, works great and my box is also out of a 93 vp ss
2- 18x 10 will be too big but im sure it can be done and the standard 18x8 fit great
3- dont use the ethenol stuff, it stuff the fuel system and you will always be replacing the fuel filter, 95 or 98 is a good fuel for them
4- either your abs and alternator are about to got or there might be lose wires somewhere, maybe the battery too

Cheers for the quick reply. Hopefuly its just lose wires or my battery... it'd be a real pitty if I had to fix somthing on her already!
Check for codes, see how you go from there. There is a sticky in the How-To section or just use search.
