Hello,
I've got two little cracks on my extractors, one on each side.
Is it a pb to run with? (more fuel, noise..?)
can i change them by myself? specials tools?
how much for a 2nd hand pair to a wrecker?
thx++
Wouldn't really have a clue but take it to an exhaust shop and ask them for a repair quote.
At the moment if the cracks are small, i don't think they will be too much of an issue, depending on location of the crack (weld or pipe). With the heat pressure and vibration they will just grow bigger though. Then you might get some issues with noise etc. A set from the wreckers you are probably looking at $30 or so. It would be easier to get them fitted by a specialist i think, I've never done it myself - but I've heard changing them is a bit of a pain.
Please do not print this sweet post. Save our forests. Save our World.
are they cast manifolds or proper extractors?
i had a crack form on my cast manifolds when i first got my v6 and after getting it welded up it came back.
i got told at the time that having the crack like that would cause the oxy sensor to trip out. i can't remember how big the crack was though might have been all the way round.
Any where from $400-$700 fitted depending on the quality.
You get what you pay for.

Hhumm the Wrecker is the best solution actually considering the price and the km of my car. I had a look to unscrew them and it does not seems easy to access particulary the righ extractor (driver side) wich is situated more under the engine's head.
Will see, if I have a good price with a wrecker, can ask to a mechanic to fix them
and I need to buy new gaskets
thx++
had the same problem on my 350kkm vp... one side only (pass). I got a s/h one from a wrecker for abt $80 and it took about an hour to install it & no special tools needed from memory. I suggest that you wd 40 the nuts on the manifold and the flange where it goes towards the rear of the car an hour or so before you want to pull it to bits. pete
Blown V6 Hatch (Tim) had this happen on a set of Pacemakers i bought off him, they crack on the cast tag on the headers, i think he ground and welded them, when i got them, they were fine.

went to a mechanic today, quite expensive. He proposes 90$ per hour (2 hours job)
Will definitely to try to fix it by myself
moreover my habd breack seems to be brocken seems today.
thx for your support ++
If you get some from the wreckers, just go for a *decent* brand. Cheap ones are likely to crack....
Problem is when you get them from the wreckers they could have done 500,00klm's and the extractors on your car are probably the most abused part of your car
extreme heat then cool off, then extreme heat then cool off then, extreme heat then cool off, then extreme heat then cool off and so on!
