What gearbox are you using? The 308 blocks have a trimatic bolt pattern wehreas the 304 blocks have the Chev turbo pattern.

    Are you actually using a 308 or a 304?

im talking about bolting it to the chassis. you will need a v8 gearbox and tailshaft to match.

i suggest haveing a search through the site, many people have done the swap before

just a memcal will do even, delco 808 is the same for v6/v8

can you even bolt VE brakes on? they'res a reason they have 16" wheels minimum

I don't know why you think you need VT brakes anyway. The brake upgrade is nice, but they are not needed for the 5 litre conversion.

i like to have the slow to equal my go. plus i seen some nice slotted rotors pretty cheap...
i would have to get newer hubs to upgrade though... or do they fit straight on?

Don't worry about the brakes, you can do that later, just get the engine in and running

Just buy a smashed V8 VN/VP and transfer all the bits over. That way, you know you have everything you need...You will pick up a smashed VN/VP for $1500 or less, you will be paying that for a motor alone at wrecking yard prices!

V6 and V8 radiators are different.

This is the easiest way. Going back and forth from the wreckers trying to find odd bits and pieces one at a time will become expensive.

All commodores from Vn onwards use a Turbo 700.

There's a how-to somewhere on changing the resistors on the tacho to suit a V8
