Okay so now I've changed my throttle body over, its now idling at about 4k revs. Any ideas why this has happended? its a v8 throttle body and before it I had my stock one on.
Okay I think I have determind the problem, the springs aren't sitting right when I put the throttle cable holder thing. so I think its going up in revs because they aren't pulling hard enough on the cable to resist it. Any ideas of how to get them on proper?
Could you use a V8 spring or just a stronger spring.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
I dont think theres anything wrong with the springs themselves, I just cannot get them to sit properly in there seat.
sure your cruise control cable isnt holding it back? any of the cables tight at "idle"?
Why would you bother with a v8 throttlbody in the first place? Unless your car is forced induction, your arent RESTRICTING air flow in so why would you go bigger? Theres no benefit at all nor any performance increase, by all means go and tell me it does il have a box of tissues to wipe up the tears of laugher that erupt from me...
Photo would help, I think I go them right from an old photo of my engine bay but one of where they sit and the actualy springs coiled themselves would be great.
Well first off thanks for all your help resolving my problem, I am fully aware that I am not restricting air flow, but a v8 throttle body will increase throttle response as it is larger so while opening at the same speed as a v6 it is letting more air in, as there is a bigger space opening. Also I am starting to believe that my engine has had internal work done, so in that case it would help. But then again, you don't seem the type to believe simple logic based upon that last post...
I think I kinda fixed it? But now it idles on 2k, would that just be because of the larger diameter tb so more air can get in while computer still thinks its a v6? should I get it tuned to suit now?
its most likely a vacuam leak from the gasket or the IAC is no good did you swap the tps sensor and iac off the old throttle onto it

Yeah I swapped both sensors over 'cause V8 TB didnt come with any, I got her running at 2k now, but I still think thats a bit high, Wouldn't a vacuum leak just make it run rough? because it wouldn't be able to get the right negative pressure for the air to be pushed through the tb?
nah just the iac cant close far enough to idle it down slow enough with a leak is all will still run sweet as you didnt loose an oring off the iac or tps sensor when you put them in they seal the sensors from leaking in outside air too.and even swapping the cable attachment part on the top may have put the throttlestop screw out of adjustment normally when you change the top section it ends up with the throttle too shut but it may have ended up the opposite and have the throttle blade to far open.all hoses back on etc will be something simple has to be one of these things

Thanks mate, I will check tomorrow again, as I've promised the family I will keep out of the gararge tomorrow and not keep them awake xD
