replaced leads and sparkplugs. and coil died?

as the title says. i put new plugs and leads on my vn 5L and started her no worries .
let her run for 5 mins then went to drive it and just stoped, coil packed it in....
WHY the hell would a coil just burnout like that?

ive got another coilpack now and working fine since.. but want to still know why my newish one like 6 months old still burnt out. and i didnt short anything out,, what the hell?

Was the previous coil the wrong coil maybe?

I just changed a coil pack on a Laser.. Was sparks running from the negative terminal up into the leed.
What was the reason for changing the leeds in the first place? Was it misfiring? If so then it was probebly the coil the whole time.
