Hi guys
just registered for this site as it looks like its going to be very handy, now onto my problem
i just replaced a part ( not even sure what its called lol) it mount to the inside wheel hub and has something to do with water flow it was leaking really bad so i figured it may have been why the car was over heating but i just replaced it today not a single drop is leaking but around 1/4 way up the temp gauge the car is already very hot and water is boiling, i am not the best with engines but i know a little any soultions as to the possible cause would be great
quite possible that ur thermostat is fkd if that is the case - its something that needs a bit more explanation i rkn
new thermostat. a bit of work to replace on S1 VNs but not impossible.
thermostats are like $10-$20 from autobarn i think and make sure you get the lower then stock. I have an ~80c thermo now, instead of ~90c. With the radiator fan on all the time, car never gets over 2 marks.
You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in. This is your wake up call.
thinking about it even when the car was really hot i dont think the fan even came on at all, i'll have to dbl check tomorrow but i am 90% sue it never came on, could this be a reason?
easy way to test.
-open the bonnet
-start the car, let it run till it starts to over heat
-place hand on the top left hose that goes into the radiator
-if cold, then thermostat is broken, replace.
-if warm then im not sure why it's overheating, try by-passing the FAN thermostat thus forcing the fan always on.
-report results.

yeah the hose is hot, how do i go about bypassing the fan so its allways on?
Thermostats are worth $7

Better to get the thermo switch setup to come on earlier, as its still on/off, and also wont drain power when trying to start the car...
