What size exhaust? The stock cat is 2.5", so theres only a need to upgrade if you are using 3" piping.

Really? Because my cat was 2.25" at the flanges.

I bought a Redback high-flow cat, and it changed the note of my exhaust so much for the better

2.5 now but thinking of 3'', due to putting a supercharger on

I was just told that the internal core of a VN-VR cat is about the same size as the internal diameter of a 2.5" exhuast pipe (as a 2.5" exhaust is the measurement of the external diameter of the pipe, not internal).

Perhaps check it out, but either way you only need it if the pipe entering the cat is larger than the internal diameter of the cat. It doesn't matter what size the exhaust is from the cat back, if its only got 2.25" piping entering the cat.

All I know is that my cat was 2.25" internal at the flanges So if you have a 2.5" exhaust system (including pipework from the header end), then you need a bigger cat. It made a significant difference to my car, and I'm not very sensitive to changes
