    Default VT brake upgrade

Looking at doing this to my VN. I have a set of VT brakes n rotors. Do I need some kind of adapter to get the VT rotors onto VN hubs or is there a specific disc that allows the conversion? Also do I need to fit a VT master cyl and booster or is it alot of work?

What's the engineering/ legality side of doing this too?

    Short and quick:

    1. VT upgrade - need hubs and engineering cert to be legal.
    2. VN Group A upgrade - no engineering cert required.
    3. You can buy upgrade kits from other companies that already come with ADR certification but for the price of them you might as well go the VN Group A option.

I did, sometimes the search function isn't that great. You can go to the trouble of suggesting a search but not give ant answers to the topic? Big help loser

I'm not familiar with the group A brakes. In your opinion would they be superior to the VT set with the correct hubs?

I'm after the best brakes on the cheap that I can get. I'll be fitting them myself

have a look at the VE brake upgrade instead. for the price it's probably better than VT. runs the same booster/master cylinder. one of our sponsors was doing it.

Im running a VT front brake upgrade on my wagon, got the brakes (with billet hub adaptors, slotted rotors, decent pads and powdercoated red calipers) and VT booster/master cylinder (with modified bracket for VN firewall), all from race-brakes in Sydney. Booster was $550, brakes were $650, mate's rates install job through dad's business was $100. Pulls up phenomenally.

VE brakes may not be the best idea, as the offest is different and centre hub in the middle of the rotor is larger? So, whatever wheels you run may not be a straight bolt up proposition (without the hole in the centre of the rim being machined out slightly, if you run alloys).

This brake upgrade is one of the best things i have done to my car so far!

I'm not sure, I have never driven a VN/VP with the Group A brakes on them.

I was going to get them just because I didn't have to hassle with engineering but the cheapest set I could find were around $1200 secondhand, and that included all 4 rotors and calipers.

What I ended up doing was going for slotted dba rotors, uprated master cylinder for greater pedal pressure and metal king pads. That was around $1k all up with a brake shop doing it and it made a huge difference. After 45,000km the rotors are still not warped or chewed out because of the metal compound pads.

I have driven a VL with the VT upgrade and a VS V8 master cylinder. If you want cheap and effective then the VT style upgrade is probably the best.

they'll be the vn group a brakes. i had a set for a bit but cbf'd fitting them, sold them to another forum user. easiest way to tell is to measure the disc. the group a front discs are 330 mm and i think vt fronts are 296mm

Mr spares on ebay does the whole brake kit i got my VT brakes through him 4 $600 tho i think theres limited supplies on the VT brakes now as they r pushing them 2wards having the VE set up. definatly best thing ive done on the car. VP brakes r ****

I didnt really need 2 upgrade my brake booster it only has a tiny bit of play nothing 2 worry bout tho but if ur booster isnt the best then get the upgrade 4 that 4 sure.
