Thread: Fudged timing advance question

  1. Default Fudged timing advance question

i shouldn't be asking this question because it is stupid and i shouldn't play with fire but i am going to ask it anyway.

extremely long story short: the memcal that i currently have in my car [5ltr] runs no advance over base at idle at operating temperature. i believe it runs some advance when it's colder. i have no idea if it runs any advance higher in the rev range, but it would be stupid if it did that and didn't have any at idle. i don't know why it does this, the chip is stupid, but i want to play around now.

so, if it runs no advance over base, what is the maximum i could set my base timing to? at the moment it's set to roughly 18 degrees. obviously taking into considering it appears to run some advance when it's cold... no idea how much though.

sorry if this is poorly formatted and i couldn't be bothered with punctuation.
