Common problem usually a bad earth from corroded globe holders. Solution is to repair (if possible) or replace the taillight wiring looms.

Just pop down to a local wreckers and get some more tail light looms. If you can't find any decent ones, you can just take the individual globe sockets and put them onto your tail light loom. The whole loom just unplugs not too far from the tail lights.

its also a pain in the ass if you have a boot leak. my looms keep stuffing up. ive replaced sockets with good ones, and then something happens to the crap ones, its never bloody ending! and god damm embarrassing.

If you keep getting new ones they still have the same problem, all you need to do is fix the earth! If anyones interested ill make up some tail light looms that will work!

yeah but the problem is that the lights just keep on leaking and corroding the sockets

my original lights leaked. i've bought 2 sets of brand new aftermarket taillights now, BOTH leaked in the left light... it's bullshit. i now purposely run the lights with the top sockets unplugged so they don't corrode any more (i have 1 brand new loom, how rare), one day i will take my nice new expensive taillight and put some silicone on it. until then...

But the earth is normally only bad because the sockets are corroded...so by replacing the sockets, you are fixing the bad earth..

If you replace the sockets that are already stuffed, you replace it with another socket with the same bad connections that havent corroded yet, but they will! I take them apart fully and redo all the connections with solder. Im willing to make some up pending interest.
