    Default radio antenna

It seems the usual problem, supermarket car parks and manual antennas. Mine was broken yesterday so I was thinking of putting a power one in my VP.Exec. it is stock standard with the factory philips RC169 radio.
Any special wiring required or will it be just a matter of putting it in and connecting things up, [ie wiring in place in a plug somewhere.] or is it a stupid idea and do supercheap or repco stock suitable antennas

usually the power antennas come with a universal bracket.. easy enuff to make fit...

they usually only come with 3 wires as well up .... down..... earth.

i would probably personally buy a small switch or run to the factory buttons if u have them so u can decide up and down position as u drive, other wise hook the UP wire to stereo power and earth to earth. When u turn the stereo off the antenna will lose power and auto go down..

you can wire up an A/C switch as an over-ride, then when your playing your CD's etc, the antenna can remain down. It also helps when your going into low public car parks or parking under trees, switch in, no antenna, switch out antenna goes up. And you can wire it up from the antena power from the radio etc.

They also most the time put the antena down when listening to CD's anyway.
