    Default just bought vp ss!

gday, my name is jono and im new to this forum. i have just bought myself a vp ss, in white with the red pinstripe. it has a 185kw 304 and a t5 manual box. apparently it is a test model for some of the new technology for that era (but not 100% sure of that) it has IRS, non electric windows, and huge brakes. pictures wil be posted up soon. and maybe some of you guys kno more about it than i do.
    cheers

sounds sweet, the vp ss's are under-rated but iirc they're getting rarer. i thought they had the standard v8 brakes, unless it's had a vt upgrade or got some group a spec ones.

Hell yeah, VP SS's are tough. They look great. Agreed with powerslave, they are getting rarer, you hardly see them around anymore, especially the grey ones. They look horn as.

heh yeh they do aye, i love it. it has the 17" senator rims on it very sex. unfortunatley one of the fog lamps is smashed due to a little "racing accident" from last owner. it has an hsv induction and weirdly for some reason has a vr floorpan. i think this has sumting to do with it being a test mule for the 185 v8.... lol im very new with holdens, i used to be a supra guy..... but i find that v8's are just better. spacially siting in a vp ss :P could sumone tell me the difference between a 185 and a normal 304?

Difference between the 185i and the normal 304 is just a HSV factory tune and exhaust.

Technically speaking, the 185 and normal 165 are both 304s. As cobez said, it was only a tune and exhaust that gave the extra power.

Also just so you know, those wheels are copies (non genuine HSV) as they never came in 17s, only 18s (which is why they are silver, not gold).

Not sure what your on about with this VR floorpan. If your going by what the last owner told you, thats a load of crap People say all sorts of things to sell a car. (unless he means HE put VR hubs on, which is why you can fit the front wheel centres over the dust covers)

Shame about the foglight. Which one is smashed? I might sell my spare for the right price.

ifthe floor pan is from a vr then it was probably rusty and swapped over.
    lery little difference through.
very late vp may have been made with some of the parts from the newer model.

He might have said it has a VR floorpan because it's IRS but all VP SS are IRS anyway so they all have the irs floor:P, seems like a stock VP SS with the 185 option to me (like the one Paradox had but smashed and sent it to the tip (also white+185)

oh ok, cool. ah well its a lovley car! has a couple of things wrong with it. but i love it. has a geat note to it with the flowies and 3 inch exhaust. the paint is immaculate which is a plus i used to drive an isuzu mu 4x4 diesel lol, going from a car that probably does the quater in about 35 seconds to the ss is very cool lol. i like your senator rims STEALTHY! the black looks badass.

Good buy - I like the VP's as well. From the pics it might be the test car for the (then) new police unicorn technology chip.

Wasnt the standard 304 in the VP's 160kw? The Vr's were 165kw. From memory the 185kw was the Clubsport that had Extractors and HSV mufflers, a CAI and a modified memcal. And a 185 badge on the rocker covers lol.

oh k, yeh mine has 185 on the roker covers. i love it, but i think this car deserves forced induction. im thinking twin turbo. i already have two decently sized variable vein turbo chargers off the new durbo diesel hilux's setup. they are quit a large unit, and produe boost at low rpm, i think they kick in at just under 1200 rpm but thats on the 1KD. will be researching options and shit this week. bit sore though as i just had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday all 4 of them. holy ***in ouch.

    Edited for the truth... :P

IRS was standard on all the SS's and Calais from day dot, optional on everything else (sedans). ABS was an option on Series one V8 cars and option on all models for Series two.

Can you imagine the weirdness of the guy that optioned my car. 5 litre, FE2, IRS, power mirrors, power antenna and forgot the LSD: P!. It can't have been fair off the price of a Calais
