Whats the difference between manual and auto extractors?Anyone can help and it would be appreciated.
I think its just the y pipe, wrong ones make it harder to install, possible but a tad harder.
So if i purchased a an auto y pipe all would be cool?
Not sure about extractors, but on factory y-pipes manual has a flattened section where it passes under the bell housing.

Cheers mate but would that mean they dont fit?
Also the left side is shorter in the picture
Illegitimi Non Carborundum
Well Im currently using the auto y-pipe because the manual one is from a series 1 V6 that has different headers, but theres still some clearance. But in saying that, aftermarket extractors maybe be less tolerant.

I think i am going to have to bite the bullet and buy some decent extractors.Whats a good brand for a vp v6 1992?
I dont think you would go to all the effort of putting extractor on then flatten out a section would you, they look like they had the 'hit to fit' treatment, don't know if its just the pic but it looks half the diameter, not good when talking exhausts.
I thought it was only because they were manual(stupid me).Seriously whats a good brand of extractors for a v6?
i think pacemakers and lukey's are a good brand, street cars would really benefit from any extractor instead of the standard restricting restricting header. I've never had a six but I'm pretty sure they would make them for a six. Stick to the well known brands, there is a reason they are well known, I like redback mufflers but haven't had anyone brag about their headers, how bad can they be?
Its all a matter of money in the end. What you end up with is what you pay for i am guessing.I just had a look on the hm headers site but they dont list prices.........so many companies and most dont list the prices.
price wars amigo, just like anything, there is just too much competition, wait till Monday and ring around, don't settle for someones beaten up old pipes, post some prices when you do just out of interest.
I will do the entire range including customs as well.....i get free local and interstate calls on my plan.
i have pacemakers and i swapped from auto to manual and mine fitted fine.
I have an auto and i am wondering if the manual set that i can get cheap will fit.I dont want to take the risk on a maybe.
Are the manuel set pace makers? because I have a set of auto pace makers lol. If they were pace makers, aqnd in the same condition mabye we could swap or something? lol
How new are yours though? These are manual and yes i need auto and yes they are pacemakers.
Better yet how much do you want for yours?
Well how much are you paying for yours? these aren't that old and in good nick. I need some manuel ones. If they seem to be a good swap you could buy them and swap, as I dont really want to go through the bother of looking for new extractors now I got some lol.
$150 for 6 month olds.
are you buying them off a mate or something or ebay or something like that? mine are a little older but no dents or scrapes.
yeh mate just be careful i know sometimes diff ones wont fit in due to your starter motor good luck
Thanks for the advice as well mate. Its a big chance to take considering if they are wrong i am left with a set that i am unable to use, cheers and i think i need to give it more thought.
