use a steering wheel puller. can get them from supercrap for under $20 apparently. much easier than bashing the steering wheel side to side for a few minutes and no risk of bearing or shaft damage.

just use a bit of wd-40, let it soak in for half an hour then using some side to side rocking of the boss kit should get it off, never had a problem with any of mine, for all my cars, used same method everytime, works a treat, may just need a shock with a small hammer, but not a big hit, just a firm shock.

As above, steering wheel puller. Usually a straight piece of metal, threaded hole in the center and slots on either side. Get two of the screws that held the steering wheel on and bolt the puller to the boss. Get the large bolt supplied with the puller and thread it through the puller until it sits against the steering shaft on the other side. Get a shifter/socket/spanner/whatever and keep turning the bolt. Presto! Boss removed.

You can take the centre nut off and put it back on a couple of threads so the wheel doesn't come off a smack you in the face, grip both sides and alternate left and right hands, it will come off, they are harder when they have been there for a while, or just buy the puller, handy tool to have lying around and they are cheap.
