hey does anyone know how to take off a boss kit off a vp / vn?
i got no idea?
thanks guys
bump bump
does anyone know, need to get the steering wheel off, cos of defect?
let me know thanks guys
use a steering wheel puller. can get them from supercrap for under $20 apparently. much easier than bashing the steering wheel side to side for a few minutes and no risk of bearing or shaft damage.
just use a bit of wd-40, let it soak in for half an hour then using some side to side rocking of the boss kit should get it off, never had a problem with any of mine, for all my cars, used same method everytime, works a treat, may just need a shock with a small hammer, but not a big hit, just a firm shock.
ohhh sorry i mean steering wheel and boss kit, steering wheel is easy just not sure about boss kit, does anyone know?
As above, steering wheel puller. Usually a straight piece of metal, threaded hole in the center and slots on either side. Get two of the screws that held the steering wheel on and bolt the puller to the boss. Get the large bolt supplied with the puller and thread it through the puller until it sits against the steering shaft on the other side. Get a shifter/socket/spanner/whatever and keep turning the bolt. Presto! Boss removed.
You can take the centre nut off and put it back on a couple of threads so the wheel doesn't come off a smack you in the face, grip both sides and alternate left and right hands, it will come off, they are harder when they have been there for a while, or just buy the puller, handy tool to have lying around and they are cheap.
wd40 quick smack on the centre thread an give it a yank bobs ur uncle
get a crap bolt that fits the thread put it ona and whack that with a hammer. worked for me
when ya pulling i agree take bolt off then put it back on a couple of threads, i told a mate to do this once he dednt listen and the next day he had 2 black eyes and a bent up nose.
