I met up with a psychopath on the Monash today - I was doing the speed limit in the right hand lane and he didn't like that. He managed to overtake me in the left lane, yelling at me as he went past, then swerved in front of me and slammed on his brakes. Luckily for him he had ABS. I didn't, I almost hit him (wish I did now), and I locked up. From 100km/h to almost stopped. Now my steering is constantly shaking, and when going a bit slower I can feel bump bump bump bump bump bump bump. Would this be a flat spot on my tyres? Or could it be my rotors? If it's a flat spot on my tyres, do these go away with time?
Sorry about the rant. I'm so ****ing pissed off right now.
Might aswell turn them into skidpan tyres...
*sigh*

Swap the rear wheels with the fronts and see if you still get that bump bump bump...
tyres are stuffed.
did you get his rego number?
Do you have a witness?
if yes to both then go to the police and lay a complaint and maybe claim damages or sue for damages same as you would for a accident.
Unfortunately not, it all happened so fast and I barely had time to react to what was going on. I was so shocked that I don't even think I thought about hitting the brakes, it just happened instinctively. If I had've reacted better I could have tried to get into a different lane to avoid locking up, but it's hard to do that when you don't experience these types of situations every day. By the time it was over he was long gone and I was trying to figure out why my steering was shaking. I'll try swap from front to rears tomorrow and see what happens, thanks for that ridah. So flat spots never go away?
As said, swap tyres to rear as the rear sometimes isn't as sensitive to vibration as the fronts.
Otherwise, if its a large flat spot then unfortunately your tyres are history and you will need to buy some more.
Its a shame, these things do happen, but I would rather buy 2 new tyres rather than have my car smashed.
As above swap em to the back and burn some rubber off your tyres, might be able to wear em down..

Managed to do the same to all four when i had the Datsun. It was a very obvious feeling.
Two were about rooted anyway so i put new ones on the front, the other two weren't as noticeable on the back and eventually wore round again. I thought i'd be stuck with it, as someone mentioned above, but it did eventually stop.
It was only an old datsun with some suspension, might depend on how much you love the car and what damage this additional vibration might cause.
In my case it wasn't about to kill it and i had no money so i let it run its coarse.
any traffic cameras there?
Not yet, I had a quick look over them but couldn't see anything. I'm going to get up early tomorrow and swap the wheels from front to rear. I'm hoping that I'm lucky and the rears didn't lock up.
Unfortunately no traffic cameras on that particular spot either.
Thanks for all the tips guys.
Well if you run into a pickle and they are real bumpy just put em on my car for about a min or less, should be right after that, it will even out nice.

Haha ^^
Switched them over, looks like the rears didn't lock up. Still very bumpy at low speed but at 100km/h you can barely notice it. And I drive 100km/h most of the time anyway so I might just see what happens. My car must brake with massive camber as it took out a huge chunk on the inside of the tyres, yet nothing on the outside.
Saw my skidmarks as well today, they weren't pretty.
hahahhaa ^ either way its not something he would like to remeber
little update, i saw the guy today. it was him beyond a reasonable doubt, silver magna with big wheels, dumped, spotties... pretty rare car to see on the exact same stretch of road. he was driving sensibly at first, after i realised it was him i slowed down to get his numberplate, and as he went past he absolutely floored it out the exit. still got it though.
i will report him to the hoon hotline, any other ideas as well?
btw: tyres are still bumpy as well.
A Magna? *vomits*
Report the ********, not only does he drive an ugly car but he was driving like an idiot![]()
Go out to the bush and do a little burnout, It SHOULD make your tyres round again, don't doa girly one tho, just go like 1st 2nd gear hold it there for a few seconds 4500 rpm? and then stop straight away and see if they still bump
go to police and ask to press charges.
if he gets charged convicted then you can sue his arse.
alternativley sue him via small claims court.
after all his driving did damage your car, same as if he smashed into it.
