Question Best exhaust for a VP V8 Calais

Sorry if this thread has already been posted before but for the life of me I can not find anything in google to comfirm what I have heard.
After the best system for a V8 VP Calais.
As of yet nothing has been done to the internals of the motor, but will happen in the future so I dont want to do this twice over.
I have been told you can not put a twin exhaust on a VP is this correct?
Currently I have quotes for $1150 to $1300 for Pacemakers and a 2.5 inch single.
    Any advise is much appreciated.
    Cheers

i'm not 100% sure but i think you can put twin on VP, but you need the extractors to match it or something

Being a Calais, is it IRS? If so, you definitely can fit a twin.

But if you don't want to spend big, you can get a single 2 1/2" cat back with one muffler for about $200.

I have a twin 2.5" system on my VQ, extractors into twin hi flow cats, straight through muffler on each pipe with a crossover pipe towards the rear. Sounds awesome, made a noticeable difference and plenty of room for future upgrades. Everything minus the extractors, $1200, factor in the extractors and roughly $1800.

    CHEERS THANKS GUYS.
MAY HAVE TO PUT IT OFF FOR A BIT NOW. JUST GETTING CAR ROAD WORTHY NOW AND CAME BACK WITH AN EXTRA $1000 OF WORK.
BUT CONSIDERING I PICKED THE CAR UP UNREG AND NO RWC THATS MY BAD.
CALAIS COST ME $4000 TO START SO STILL PRETTY GOOD.
IT IS AS STRAIGHT AS YOU CAN GET WITH 19INCH VY GTS RIMS( not road worthy) WITH A SHITKIT.
    NOT A BAD START.
    THANKS GUYS FOR YOU ADVICE

I just read you are putting it off, but anyway here is mine:

    Exhaust 2 video by HSV056 - Photobucket

I kept the original HM headers, but went with a twin cat, 2.5" inch system into a 3" muffler, no resonator.

    $530 mild steel.

hey i went with extractors(pace makers) into a single high flow cat and 3" the rest of the way back with an intermediate muffler and a rear muffler
sounds tuff and has no drone, i have dropped the rear muffler off to see what its like, its loud as but
drones lot's and is just a bit too loud for a streeter

You can do a FULL twin system with abit of work.

Mine has a twin, but it goes into a single tip at the rear because i hate how 'close' the twin tips are on them.

Post How to find the month of manufacture

JUST TRYING TO PURCHASE A FEW THINGS FOR MY 1992 VP V8 CALAIS AND HAVE BEEN ASKED WHAT MONTH THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED.
NOW CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO FIND THIS INFO IF THE CAR WAS BOUGHT UNREGESTED AND NO CAR MANUAL.
IS THE INFORMATION HIDDEN WITH IN THE VIN NUMBER?

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I could work out a rough date with the vin, but the compliance plate on the passenger side (like said above) will show you the BUILD date of the car. Keep in mind this is different to holden sale date that they'll have on their records.

I'm not sure of anything that would be effected by the build date tho, what are you having done exactly?

I am replacing rear brake rotors, pads, dis cap, rotor button, leads and plugs and brake master cylinder.
Apparently there were a few changes to the vp after the october 1992.

    Thanks for you help anyways

I've never heard of there being a difference for any of that with VPs. Maybe VN V6s, but not VPs, and not 5Ls.

The V6 got the bigger brakes as standard after October, that's why they would have asked (The V8 allready had them)
