Anyone recommend a place in western Sydney area that can be trusted to do a good four wheel alignment while the owner observes. Not interested in front wheels only.
Need to know if the thrust angle is parallel to car axis. If a two wheel only alignment is performed and the thrust angle is not parallel to axis of your car there will be a need to steer against the thrust angle, which will mean the tyres will toe-out scrub when travelling in a straight line.
Have heel/toe wear pattern on inside of tyres, yet alignment was performed within last 3 months. Measurement were made using the string square method, which is to run a string parallel to each rear wheel from the rear of the car forward past the front wheels and then measure from the string to each front wheel rim. The distance from the string to the front rims on each side should be the same if the rear axle is true, allowing for front toe-in.
Driver's side front wheel rim is approx. 15 mm inside the string line, which is within a few mm of the expected result, while the passenger's side rim is some 35 mm inside the string line.
Only explanation I can think of is that the passenger side rear axle/housing is bent. This would give a thrust angle that is not parallel to the axis of the car and could account for the tyre . Can anyone see an error in the methodology.
