Hey guys, Im thinking about putting a vp calais independant rear suspension into my vn. Anyone know how much roughly I can get this for and would it make much difference I have heard I could pay $1000 what do you guys think?

If you are doing it yourself then it'be ok, wouldn't pay someone else to do it. Not sure about pricing, but would be a bit of labour.

Personally i've had both and don't see the difference, so to me it will be waste of money to do.

i notice quite a difference between the two. there are corners my v6 vn will kick out on that my v8 vr wont and i can only assume its because of the extra grip from the IRS. i wouldnt even bother putting it in your VN. im pretty sure its a massive amount of work, and youre better off buying a vp calais instead

Theres no way you got quoted $1000 for an IRS setup. It would cost upwards of 10k to do the body mods (legally).

For a setup that is outdated so badly (even when it was introduced with the VQ, it was already outdated by 20 years) and is actually quite a poor setup. For the small gain in handling, i wouldn't worry about it, or do what stocky said and buy a VN Calais (then put your VN headlights and door moulds if your that pedantic about having a VN with IRS lol)

The whole rear of the car is different man, you would have to remove the floor from the rear seat back or so. I think Stealthy made a typo and ment get a VP calais too ^

have to agree with the mike on this one, my vp with live axel will step out around anything... if i sweat in the car the arse comes around.. its nuts...

my berlina with irs doesnt though... few major differences in setups but its so much grippier around anything.. feels good. Plus i can squat it at the lights to impress the ladies

I have a VP rear IRS rear end if you are interested. New(ish) nolathane bushes thru most of it. It is located in Melb. Would be a massive job to fit to a non IRS car though.

the whole rear end is different... when i had my VP with IRS, all i could think about was ditching it for a nice solid axle setup. Camber kits, horrible deflection angles with suspension travel- wasnt a fan at all.

Thankfully the wagon is live axle, i prefer it so much more.

Up to you. Best thing is to go out and buy some new rims all round that are 8" wide. Gives you and excuse to get new rims. Just make sure they are legal and don't go for any 20"x8" rims.

17x8 or 18x8 are the best ones for a VP.

As many faults as the early VP-VZ IRS has, it's still infinitely more tractable that the live axel so you can't really knock it . I would buy another, I also think the squat looks freaking tough /_______\ :O Live axel Commodores just don't have that mean stance

The squat is nice but nothing beats a live axle wheelie Where the car is on a slight angle but both the back wheels are straight on the ground.

Except you can't do a wheelie on the public road.

    Better example:
