Manual Gearbox - Transmax Z

Was looking for some DEXIII oil and Lubrizol for the T5 today, nobody seems to have the lubrizol? Only tryed 2 places (super and repco) but they didnt even have it on there computers.

So without lubrizol I started searching, instead of using DEXIII (Castrol Transmax M) I thought maybe Transmax Z. Aparently you dont have to use lubrizol with it, is this true?

I have no experience with T5 boxes, but I just put Transmax Z in my T56 a couple of weeks ago and it's brilliant. Shifts are much smoother and easier to get into gear, the whole car feels more lively since then.

I have heard people recommend a manual gear oil for the T5 over DexIII, but can neither confirm nor deny how effective it is.

The oil for a t-5 seems to be such a dark horse and touchy subject when researched.

I've heard using Dex III is really bad, and others say its really good.
Penrite recommend a 75w oil instead Dex III, which comes in Synthetic Fortified or some shit, and Fully Synthetic, but its about 40 bux for the Fortified, or 55 for the fully synthetic (2.5Litres).

Sorry no idea on the additive, after all the bitching on US Forums about what oil to use, I just went with the Penrite oil cause they have never let me down.

I ordered the lubrizol though Autobarn. Was no more than $10 per bottle (150ml) and took about a week to come in. Part number is LZ 7906.

Ive got gear oil in there now so i thought i would try the ATF option.

Autobarn! haha, i thought all they had was pretty lights and big speakers? Never would of thought they would stock it

Still main question im after tho, Transmax Z with or without lubrizol?

haha funnily enough Autobarn are Penrite retailers. I did a search for stockists on the Pentite site and only Autobarn stores showed up lol.

For the price of Transmax Z Im hoping you dont need to add anything

never heard of Transmax Z, might give it a try in my T-5 too as i've got it out and will be refilling it soon

haven't tried lubrizol before but i've used the nulon gearbox treatment which is available at repco, dunno if it did much haha but didn't hurt i guess

if you use the transmax Z i'm sure it wouldnt hurt to add the lubrizol, just ask the folks at autobarn if the treatment and the oil conflict with eachother

yeh i always use lubrizoil and atf and love it, same deal i just autobarn to order mine in, took them 3 days and they even got 6 more bottles so i know they will always have some now
