hey guys i had my wagon for over a year now and ever since i have had it. as the converter locks up if you aint on very light throttle you get a vibration like running over the ripple strip wake up lines on edge of the road but twice as loud......am considering rebuilding tail shaft with new center bearings and uni's and am hoping this will fix it even though i can see no wear in the old ones while it is still in the car....any idea's???

not sure what the problem is, i have a similar issue, i get a vibration at high rpm, from bout 3,000rpm onwards, not really noisy though, or i can't notice the sound, at 1st i thought it was my extractors cause they're contacting my gearbox
yours could be a warped flywheel or clutch/pressure plate

ok well after an indepth inspection it appears that the gearbox is not bolted to the mount at all. so i guess this hopefully is the cause of the vibration. now i just got to remove it all and hope that the reason it is not bolted in is they haven't snapped the bolts off.

well got the gearbox mount all bolted up now (idiots just didn't bother doing it) so i guess it's down to the tail shaft and uni's....only problem now is said idiots have round the bolts for the tail shaft so now i got to cut them off to get it out.....ugh some people i tell ya!

how would the coil make it vibrate as the converter locks up? as it only does it if you are not on very light throttle?

no worries if i get the tailshaft done soon and it still don't fix it then i will sus out the coil pack

iv hade the same problem as you describe and i got my drive shaft(the one from gearbox to diff) balanced as it was out by 20 grams and it fix the broblem
