Default Use a vr/vs power button as aircon switch?

    Hi all.

A while ago i put a vs calais centre console cover on and as you would know they dont have the air con button under the radio, SO i got the button etc etc to go where the power button is on vr/vs's...

I was just wondering would anyone know how to wire it up so that i can use that button to turn my ac on and off

Has a search and couldn't find shit lol so any help would be appreciated

hasn't it still got the same area where the vn A/C switch goes? cause i am sure you can simply knock one of them out and fit the A/C switch in as factory

It shouldn't be a problem to switch the A/C through a VR/VS "PWR" switch. The grey wire w' the yellow trace is the power wire in for the A/C, the brown wire w' white trace goes out to the A/C clutch. (The brown and black wires are for the light in the A/C switch.)

The (original) A/C switch will be carrying more current than the "PWR" switch is intended to handle, so I would use the "PWR" switch to operate a relay, with the A/C switch wires connected across the '30' and '87' terminals of the relay - '30' to the G/Y.

Tap (splice) into a wire powered with the ignition on, probably the brown w' yellow trace to the cigarette lighter would be easiest, to go to one side of the "PWR" switch, continue the circuit out of the "PWR" switch to the '86' pin of the relay and earth the remaining ('85') relay pin with a short wire terminated with a screw terminal to the trans tunnel.

If you don't want to permanently cut the wires to the A/C switch (I wouldn't) you'll likely find a matching terminal connector from the wreckers to match. Likewise, a terminal block for the relay - so you don't have to figure out what each wire goes to, as you would with individual spade connectors, if you ever have to disconnect them from the relay.

because it cost money? and I already have the vs one (and have had it for ages).... I just decided it would be a good idea to set up my air con button since its spring and summer is coming up haha
