Losing Power

My vp 3.8L commodore seems like its losing power while its idiling, When it runs it sounds like it dies but goes again kinda like what cars sound like when they have a cam i dont really know how to describe it so im hoping someone has had this problem before.

check and clean ya iac also do a error code check then let us know how ya went

How do i clean the iac?? steps would be great as im not very experieced

umm idle air control and its somewhere near the throttle body

there's a pic on this page VP Commodore Idle Prolems of where its located its at the back side of the tb closest to the fire wall best to take the hole tb off and give the hole thing a clean its 2 screws holding the iac in get a tin of tb/carby cleaner (spray on type )
then after removing the iac spray it down and give it a good clean
