9 times out of 10 the plastic adaptor is forgotton and flys off the end of the TPS shaft when you pull it off depending on what model TB you have early ones dont have the adaptor later ones do

the adaptor goes on the end of the shaft and then the tps goes on top of it

I had this problem when putting a VP v8 T/B on my old VN, never worked and error codes came up even got to the point of drilling holes in the tps plastic to make it adjustable worked for abit but still no go. it was loose inside the tps sensor.

if its the TB that needs it it makes the end of the shaft the correct size to fit the tps properly and takes all the slop out of it without it it doesnt zero back to 0 after throttle been applied hench the high TPS voltage flag

if its not the tb that needs the adaptor, what other things could cause it?

i just pulled it off and had a look at the TB. Thers no gap and it seems to fit snug with some tension on the spring in the TPS, cleared the error codes and its still buggered.
