    Unhappy rev's problem

ok i have a '91 series II vn calais and i have recently noticed that when cruising down hill the revs fluctuate between 1500 and 1750 with a noticable drop in power (so not just a dash prob). it is more noticible when in the cruise is turned on but it does happen when cruise is turned off.

recent changes to the car before i noticed the problem include a second hand gearbox cos the old one was stuffed, and the memcal was changed from AWUY 9398 to ATFY 4410 from another sII vn calais cos the old one got broken.

any help would be greatly appreciated

    -----edit-----

Just talked to my partner, apparently this has been happening for afew months, before the chip and gearbox change

was just talking to my partner, apparently it was happening before the new chip and gearbox.
is there anything else that may cause it?
