maybe 2 seconds. 5 seconds is a bit long.

It could be your oil pressure sender getting a bit sticky. The pump turns off when it gets low oil pressure (ie it thinks the engine is off). However if the oil pressure sender is sticking then it thinks the engine is running longer than it really is.

Thats about the only reason I can think of.

nah, wont do anything with fuel economy. When the fuel pump is going with the engine off it just pumps fuel through the fuel rail and back into the tank.

The oil pressure sender is down by the filter. It has a plug that points upwards.

But as sos said, I wouldnt give it too much thought until it starts staying on indenfinately.

mine stays on for atleast 5 sec and apparently it's pre-priming. It keeps the fuel pressure up for the next start thats why it kicks in before you start it aswell!!!
