Hi guys.
Ok I have an issue with the power steering system which has gotten me puzzled.
The disgnostic I have come to conclusion is the power steering belt keeps slipping off. This is not because of high revvving its simply when driving in traffic turning a corner (bang) it flys off. My question is.. Why could it be? Could it be that the pump is siezing causing it to slip off? could the pump be stuffed or could it be something to do with the power steering rack not allowing enough steering fluid to bypass and creating a surge which is caugin seized pump intervals. If anyone could shine some light on this you will be a legend.
I had a similar prob with my old 72 Stato, The shaft/ bearing on the power steering pump was stuffed which made the pulley wobble and throw the belt off.

what he said.
got a vp in the back yard were the whole bloody shaft came out of the pump.
a real mees of the pump.
If there are no other obvious problems with the steering system, this may help. A good mate of mine just had a similar issue with his VR Senator 215i. We had replaced all drive belts and it kept throwing the PS one for no reason, just idling around town etc. Eventually he got around to tightening the belt further, which solved the problem. It took his brother tightening the bolts while my mate hung off another drive belt looped over part of the pump assembly. Not sure which exact bit he looped it over but I'm sure a quick look will find somewhere obviously useful![]()
