Ok so bought a replacement crank angle sensor today. My car has had a constant miss fire pretty much since owning it, and i've changed the plugs, leads, injectors, coil pack and DFI, but it still misses. It's a very noticible miss aswell.I was reccomended to swap the CAS over, and see how i go, and if it made no difference, then that it's most likely a fairly serious issue, and to maybe considering getting a compression test done.
So i have the new CAS, but i cant figure out how to get to the old one.I can see where it is and everything though. That large wheel at the bottom of the motor, is this the harmonic balancer, and does this have to come off? Is the large bolt in the centre of it what holds it on, or is there something i'm not seeing?
Any help would be great, as i don't really have a clue what i'm doing. I've gone ok changing everything else, just this has got me stuck....
Hey HoldenCommodoreVP, this is probably a job that would be best done by a qualified mechanic who has the correct puller for the balancer. If you want to have a go you will have to get the correct tools. You will need to remove the balancer, this is done by removing the big bolt and using a pully puller. Make sure you use the correct puller and bolts for the puller as you need to use the correct skinny bolts. Once the balancer is off then you can swap the CAS over with the new one. When fitting the new one, I cant remember if it is only VN you may have to some research but there has to be a gap set with a feeler guage. But i think that this is only on VN.
Anyway good luck and i hope this helps you out.
