map sensor URGENT!

hey all any help would be great.

idleing when its cold i unplug my map sensor and my idle is alot higher and smoother. is this a sign to say my map sensor is faulty??

Tap the MAP sensor while the car is idling and if the idle jumps around a bit then the sensor is faulty
