The car had been sitting in the shed up the back of my work for 7 years.
Need less to say a few things went missing during that time, like the ignition module, power steering pump, map sensor, ecu.
Got all new parts threw them in emptied out the fuel tank (fuel was stale) threw in 20L of premium.
Gave it a full service change of oils filters and such.
From What i know of the car the engine had a big cam and works thrown in it, headers and 2.5's in single 3 exhaust and tricked up transmission.
But this was all done 7+ years ago so obviously nobody has any idea what size cam.
So i figured i would burn the 185kw hsv bin onto the memcal.
Hit the key and it fired straight up with a nice note to it too .
Doesnt idle perfect but its not to bad , kinda seems like its going to stall but then suddenly jumps back up a bit again.
Noticed the engine trouble light come on so got the error code out of it 43 aka knock sensor(doesnt have one).
So obviously either i will have to get one and run the wire to the ecu or burn the standard bin file onto the memcal.
We have a dyno dynamics dyno at work that i intend to throw it on to tune it but before i do im wondering which memcal i should use and weather or not i should get a haltech interceptor or try and use something like tuner pro to tune it.
You can just turn the knock sensor off in the tune and keep running the hsv tune. The tune will need some other stuff changed to be able to run nice with the cam but it does sound like its a very small cam if it's idling on a stock tune so that wont be too hard
Is there much of a power gain by switching to a thermo fan mounted on the radiator over the fan on the motor?
I wouldnt think there would be a great difference, but every little thing counts.
