Hi just bought a VP executive , headlight switch just turns freely and falls off obviously broken , how easy is it to replace , new to commodores any help would be appreciated cheers![]()
not that hardputting it back in is the same a removing it in reverse order, just make sure all the plugs are back in ok, each should only go into one possible socket
- take out the two screw in the black bit directly above the dials, then take out the screw that is behind and under the headlight switch and on also the screw in the same spot on the other side.
- you should now be able to move this whole bit toward you a bit (bit it'll still be wired up, so don't pull it out too far)
- next look down to see what's connected to the switches, this'll depend on whether you have level 1,2 or 3 dash, but just unplug the plugs gently
- you should now be able to gently pull the whole suround free (this will leave the dials in the dash still) if it resists you probably haven't disconnected something.
- then it's just a matter of undoing the bolt on the switch block and pulling it out, they come out as one, get a new one from the wreckers (make sure you get the right level dash)
^As above, but be careful as some of the connectors are delicate. Just ask the auto sparky that broke mine.

does the black knob just come off the metal shaft?
if you turn the metal shaft do the lights work and click?
if yes to both these then carefully press the centre cap out of the knob from the inside then get a easy out and remove the broken bit of the plastic bolt that is in the metal shaft.
then get a bolt to replace the broken plastic one.
fit knob, do up bolt then replace cap.
same trick on wipes as long as you can drill a hole in the middle of the bolt.
cool thanks a bunch that fixed it up cheers
