every now and then, well actually happens everytime i drive now, ill be stopped or stopping at the traffic lights or something, and the revs seem to drop and stall, its really annoying, any help with what this could be? happen to anyone else with a vn? thanks.
auto or manual
Does it just drop down in revs and stall or does it rev up and down type thing before it does? If it only does it when the brake is pressed down it could be the brake booster having a leak or maybe timing
vacuum leak, dirty throttle body, crook injectors, plugs, etc etc etc, when did it have a complete service last?...
its an auto, well come to think of it mate, i think they only drop when im braking, as i start braking the revs will be on about 1000, then by the time ive nearly stoped there on about 100 ahha, it gets serviced about every 3 months, last major service was over a year ago, could it be a sensor? should i take it to a mechanic, or an auto electrician?
try when you stop and the revs are down quickly take your foot off the brake and see if the revs pick back up...if it does it might be like Jaywa says and be a vacuum leak at the booster
yeah naaah, once the revs are down they dont come back up, unless i put it in neutral and give it a little rev, which is how i prevent stalling haha
the ICS on the throttle body might be clogged or failed blocking off the airflow when the butterfly is closed after youve backed off
Its the IAC in yo throttle body, best to take it apart n clean it, but can be done with jst throttle body cleaner.
Mine play up eveyr 6months or so, have to rally drive at the lights, foot on brake n accel
yeah i cleaned it all with throttle body cleaner, and it seems to be fine ay!, so happy ahah
try that vn_commonwhore!
I seem to be experiencing a similar issue. The revs are only one hundred less then they usually were at idle, but the engine seems to be idling rough and when i hold my hand over the tail pipe it's a bit rough as well. I have changed the fuel filter, and removed and cleaned the throttle body (being cautious not to get carby cleaner into the sensors), i also changed the coil pack over to a newer one that was putting out better ohms reading. All spark plugs and leads checked, etc. I'm guessing a sensor on the way out maybe, damn i hope it's as simple as that. Any ideas?
