Hi,
I'm new to the site and having a hard time trying to find any previous posts on ECU - Fuel pump Power? Sorry if this has been posted but im having problems with my VP, every now & then i go to start the car and it wont start, the fuel pump isnt getting power and some of the ignition lights aren't on.
If i leave the car for a little while and come back to start it, the dash lights up correctly & the fuel pumps works and it starts easy. can anyone help with this or send me a link to a thread that could help?
Cheers guys,
Sin.
The fuel pump will only operate for a couple of seconds with the ignition on, engine off.
Which of the dash lights don't come on?
It may be an immobiliser fault. Maybe try switching it on and off using the switch in the passenger B pillar.
Most of the time on a VP that's the immoblizer switch, I'm suprised there's any that still work, mine conked out ages ago
I pulled the immobliser out and it still wont start, when i turn the ignition on the fuel pump wont prime for a couple of seconds, and when I try to start the car there is still no power to the pump. This is why i thought it might be the ECU. Is there a factory immobliser built-in to a S pack VP?
I noticed this morning the dash lights have nothing to do with it, some of the lights didnt light up but the car still started.
The car has been fine for the last couple of days so I cant find where the problem is.
Would the engine still run normal if i connect the fuel pump directly to the ignition switch through a relay? i dont want to damage any other electrics if i do this.
This has got me stumped.
being vp if it has the factory immobilizer it will have a keyhole in the passenger door open the door and look at the front of the steel the door closes into by the checkstrap that stops the door swinging right open wiggle the keyhole a bit
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
make sure the immobiliser is turned off on the pillar, not removed.
remove and refit relays efi fuel pump and the pump fuse.
i have found a lot of them are just loosing contact due to age so a little wiggle gets them going again.
hey dudes thanks for the advise, I'm positive its the key immobiliser on the piller that was causing the dramas, I remember trying to see if my key fits in it and that was when the car started playing up. I played round with the immobiliser barrel and the car seems to be working fine, now i need to fix it properly. thanks again.![]()
