    Default Service

Okay so i brought my Vp Calais at 200 000 on the clock, got it serviced straight away, it now has 210 000 on the clock. Was just wondering how often should i get it serviced?? Just some rough idea would be much appreciated. I dont drive it hard or anything treat it good so doesnt work that hard.

Usually every 10K is the go, I personally service mine every 5K as it’s a work Ute and gets a fair hiding.
Just depends if you feel confident to do it your self and save a few $$.
My view is oil is cheap insurance but my car is only a year old so I know the full history.
    Cheers.

Please elaborate, my car has a Gen 111 all Alloy V8; these motors are prone to excessive carbon build up in the oil.
How can changing the oil every 5K be bad, as I said good oil is cheap insurance in my book?

no woz, i have herd gen 3 have oil problems, to my knowledge engines require a certain amount of film to build up over the years, this protects if you change the oil to often it will provent this protective film from building up? is this right maybe im wrong, but i have always been led to believe this, i service my engine as soon as the oil is looking a bit dirty i top up all levels regulary and as soon as the gearbox or brake fluid ect.. looks dirty i will change it spark and leads are done every 15000 keys and seems fine to me, however im open to sugestions. and all cars are different. Just remember its the oil companys who invented the oil change

I do my V6 VP every 6000, I havent had any issues. I thought the build up that you were talking about is glazing, and that is exactly what they are trying to prevent because it ruins the ring seal??

I go for every 8000 on the VL. An oil and filter is the best preventitave maintanance you can do.

no longer than 10K 6mths... reason for the 6mths is because of acid build up in oil.. which is why doin lil drives to the shops n bak is bad coz oil dun get hott enough 2 burn off that acid build up n just eats away at components... and no changing oil at 5K, 2K, 500 metres is not going to do any harm will only do good.. P.S am a mechanic.. jus so ya know its not another persons opinion, they r are facts..
