Past few months, when ever it goes into 3rd gear (auto) in makes a clunk, (you can hear it and feel it) but only does it in 3rd, and every time without fail. I spoke to a mechanic a while back when i had something else done, and he said best to leave it as it could be expensive to fix...But it's starting to really irritate me, any idea's on what may be causing this to happen?
stuffed box just replace it

did u ever play around with the throttle body cables?
i had the throttle body replaced after the TB sensor wasn't working properly. The kickdown cable was adjusted by a mech after the TB was fitted. But the clunking into 3rd was a problem before and after, hasn't changed..
flick the kickdown cable wire
incorrect settings to the kickdown cable changes heaps in gear changes. (coz i played around with it) lol it took ages making it right again
it shifts up at all the right points..the mech said it was diff related...
lol check the tail shaft to diff bolts and see what play is in the unis then. maybe time for a new diff if what he believes is correct
I doubt a diff prob would only happen in 3rd, I'd say get an auto service first.
