    Default Parcel Shelf

Hey guys I just built a new parcel shelf for my Vp Calais and it wasnt as had as I originally expected. All you need to do is pull out the out parcel shelf and the rest comes from there. To pull out the old parcel shelf you have to take out the back seats, the brake light and any speaker on the shelf. Then all there is is one or two bolts and a few clips holding it in. Once we got it out I found it was best to peel the carpet off so that i could trace around the shelf. In the old shelf you will see that there are some curves. I cut the two side curves off and kept them. Just trace around onto some MDF anything around 15-16 mm thick. Cut out the shape with a jigsaw and then work out where you would you speakers and cut out the holes. Now with the side curved bit attact them to the side of the new shelf and sand back any bits hanging over the top(these bit are very fragile so be careful). You will need to but carpet to cover the shelf and I found Bunnings had a good variaty. Use contact adhesive to stick the carpet to the MDF. Also remember to cut out a hole to fit the brake light globe through. I left an overhang on the sides and front and back. The over hand was so that the carpet covered any bit the MDF couldnt get to. It worked a treat for me. It is best to screw it your speaker and brake light now or else it is too hard to get to them later. Now test to see if it fits in you car. I didnt need to screw my shelf down it fit snug and doesnt move. The backseat will help keep it in place.I hope this could have help someone and any questions you have just ask in a reply and ill try to help you out.

    excellent work there mate!

-- To remove the back seats, you start with the bottom cushion. About level with the drivers and passenger seats there are two clips that hold the bottom cushion in. If you push the bottom of the centre cushion back (in one location at a time) and pull up you can pop off the clip. Now just carry the cushion out and you will see the two bolts that hold the back cushions in. Undo them, lift the cushions upwards then out!
