Hey, i'm new here. Just bought a 92 VP Vacationer, for the GF, only cost $1,800 for a car that would of ended up in a dealers yard for $2,600+.
Anyway it's at 2xxxxxkm, and hasn't had a service since the last 14,xxxkm it's done. Looking at doing a major service for as cheap as possible (we are both tertiary students). I found a service kit on EBAY for $140 (inc postage).
It includes.
1 x Oil Filter
1 x Air Filter
1 x Fuel Filter
Set of Front Superstone Premium Disc Pads
Set of Rear Superstone Premium Disc Pads
Set of Bougicord Leads (6 Leads)
1 x Gates Drive Belt
Auction here
I will also be buying
Oil
Plugs
2x tires
It looks like a good price. Just wondering if it would be worth it quality wise, if anyone else has purchsed the same product, are knows of something similar that I could get from a retailer?
to be honest the only one of those brand i'm familiar with is the gates belt (they make decent enough hoses). as for the lead brand that's stated to be the OEM for holden, the auction edit says it actually ships with superstone leads.
i don't know this brand, but with brakes i'd prefer to get a brand i know/trust. if the brakes on the car don't need doing right now, i'd just spend the money on the service.
also check if the belt that comes is for AC or not, if you have AC you can run a non AC belt, it just means your AC won't work.
oil, air and fuel filters i guess are fairly standard, but he doesn't mention who makes those ones, if you're going disposable, ryco are what i use. i can't give a price on those but.
also if you're doing a major service, do a flush and clean of the radiator. here's a howto
