Default Can you upgrade instrument panel?

I recently purchased an '88 VN. The instruments are a bit sick, no temp guage and both fuel and speedo operate sometimes. As I have to replace faulty instruments, can anybody tell me if it is possible to upgrade with a better set that includes tacho and other guages? I am hoping this would not require the wiring harness in my VN executive to be modified to support tacho signal etc.

    Cheers

I am pretty sure, if you can get hold of a level 2 dash from a V6 VN the tacho should work.

all clusters from all model vn's and vp's and toyota lexcens and all their sub models (berlina spac exec vacationer csi etc) will slide straight in and work without a hassle.. providing the fault is with the cluster and not your sensors or dash itself..

ALL EXCEPT CALAIS (ELECTRONIC) WHICH REQUIRE MODIFICATION

While we are talking about these clusters can anyone tell me the difference between the cluster for the V6 and the V8. People tell me they are different but cosmetically I can't see any difference. It must only be with the tacho cos there will be 8 pulses in lieu of 6 with the V8. I presume the Tacho is fed from the ignition pulses. I have both but I still can't see the difference.

basically the tacho and the temp gauge are different between the two engine types.
Temp will still work but will read a little different but the tacho is different and either has to be modded or changed to be accurate.
