Default Power Windows, what's your thought?

    Hey everyone again

It's me askin for thoughts on.. Power windows.

Now, is it worth me puttin Power Windows in?
I don't like Manual wind up ones.. (Im lazy LOL) And i'd love to be able to wind all 4 windows down when I travel from Mackay to rocky.. Plus, if i don't have the air con on.. I like all windows down

Now, I've been reading the "how-to" guide for a few days.. Im very keen to do this.
If I do go ahead with it, I will also be trying to fix my door locking issue.. Only driver door unlocks.. All fuses are good..

Also. I've noticed a large amount of people have issues with them after time, but I think. If YOU installed them. You'd know how to fix it or might have an idea, yes?

So basic question is. Should a Stock as a rock VP bother with Power Windows..Or would you stick to Manual wind up?

As for the dash painting idea I had. Im not going to do it, but will go tan everything Looks more nice than Black lol. I've got some quotes on Leather Tan seats.. So hopefully it will pan out

Also, got an Off topic thing lol.

RIGHT. Since i've been doing a lot of night work(For the last 2-3 months), start around 8pm finish anywhere after 4-5am in the morning..and i sleep all day..

I've been getting a few knocks on the door saying, "Hey mate, is your commodore for sale? , Im just asking cause I usually see it sitting in the same spot all day"

    -OR-

"I never see it driven around, and sits here all the time.. So me and my mates thought its for sale? if so.. How much you asking for her?"

Why is it , if a commodore sits on the gutter (Out front of me house) people think it's for sale LOL? Maybe I should get a sticker "Not For sale, **** off"

It is funny tho lol. But annoying if im sleeping
It might be a joke from a mate.. but i doubt it lol.

Power windows.......always wanted them, got them ,never want them ever again!!! i hate them i had 3 out of 4 windows stuff up on my vt and after alot of stuffing around ive got 2 out of 4 working. The drivers window is dead it died halfway down when i was driving from bundaberg to canberra and it rained all the way (about 1600kms) and i got soaked! and it was -5 degrees or below for the last 300km. I ended up unbolting it and wiring it shut. From now on i'll be sticking to the old wind ups. Although now i cant wind the window down when im driving the vt theres no more maccas drive through lol

Power windows are great, but it's fairly common to have issues with them, especially on an older car - things like them not going up/down, or going up/down by themselves. In my experience it's usually related to water getting into the door and shorting something out.

So to that end, make sure you inspect any parts you get and check that any seals are in good condition, or be prepared to try and repair them.

Re you car being for sale, have you tried parking it somewhere else?

The door locks not working will 99% of the time be the wire connecotores in the door or broken wire in side the door.

As for power windows - did this to my wagon and altho a little work they work fine most of the time. Just use some silicone spray on the runners to keep the windows sliding easy.

Yeah i'm another one who is doing this to there car. I've got the back ones done and they work really well. It's such a novelty for me to open the back windows while sitting in the front. I've haven't done the front ones yet, been too busy/lazy.

If you are going to do the converstion heres a couple of things to keep in mind:
    1) Get motors from a VR/VS - get them from a VS if you can, they will work better and you wont have to replace one in six months cos it's not working.
    2) Get a WORKING VN power window module. Or be prepard to fault find and re - solder the joins
    3) Make sure you have a set of matching door trims for power windows
    4) when removing the loom from a doner car, ie a VN. The plug that has the power, ground and the rest, see if you can remove the other side of it that goes to the fusebox (the gold connectors that hold the fuse). It makes life so much more easier (and will look dead stock)
    5) Do all your wiring first, then you only have to worry about the motors.

Sorry long post, but it is a big job and you will be driving around with trim panels missing for a while if you take your time.

Use bolts to put the winder mech in and nyloc nuts. As in replace any rivets that are moving. The rivets get lose and let the window move around abit. If you want it tight - fix this while the doors are apart.
