dumb question but i thought i'd ask anyway

had a quick search, nothing relevant

is there anyway to check if an alternator is good condition without actually having to fit it to a car and test the voltage?

maybe how the bearing spins? physical condition? bushings in the back? voltage across terminals in the rear?

its just i can't be arsed swapping it into my car because i'll lose my trip comp calcs :P
