If its a squeal its probably a bearing. I think there about 15ish bucks from memory, It was a while ago I was looking to buy some so I could be wrong.

stationary only from the rear drivers side? it could be the fuel pump or a line, but i've never heard of them making a noise like this

No its like an air leak kind of whistle (high pitched if you know what i mean)but the tyres are all fine and exhaust seams ok the car is not moving and i can walk around the car and the noise is located roughly insidethe wheel arch or perhaps a little further under the car.Kind of sounds a bit like a pump noise maybe but whats back that way that could be doing that?

I wish that were the case but its not just me its my mates and a bloke across the road who reckons its probably the fuel pump as it only happens on petrol.

I have not replaced anything to do with fuel....its the first time since i purchased the car that i have left it to run on fuel for a while and the noise was there from starting it up this morning.Took it for a spin and came back, the noise is still there and annoying me so i will fit a new fuel pump and filter and see if it goes away.Whats a good fuel pump mate?V6 of course.

fuel pump bro, when they start dieing they make some pretty funky noises , either replace it or drive it till its dead, the worst that could happen is ya car will stop, unless you gots dual fuel

did you fix it yet?...another possible is a blocked breather pipe from the tank or an incorrectly fitted one....fuel comes out air cant get back in vacuum is created and youd get a squeal as it tries to suck air back in.....when it does it again take off the fuel cap and see if it stops....

100% it's the fuel pump from the description the OP has given. No other theory stands because most of the suggestions here were from people who hadn't actually read the conditions of the problem. The noise won't still be there when the pump has been changed. Not as badly anyway - they do all whine to some extent, it's not meant to be loud though.

It won't be a blocked breather if it starts the instant the pump is priming.

Probably not a bad idea to replace all your breather lines while you have the tank down. Allow a Saturday to get it all sorted out if you don't know what you're doing.
