Howdy fello commy owners
I have a Q RE: my Power Steering Pump.
Now, every so often when I turn it will make a noise.. like a loud 'MMMMMM' sound..
Is my P/W on its way out.. Or might it need a Fluid Change? It doesn't leak, which is good
But, really.. I think im worrying about nothing![]()
Didint think to look IN THE PUMP! lol..
It's fluid is quite low.. so the noise is most likely due to it being close to empty..
LOL. Check fluid , then post and worry! LMFAO
gona buy some fluid tomoro and see how she goes![]()
If the noise persists after you fill it up it is because air got into the system from the fluid being too low. To bleed the steering, raise the front wheels and with the engine running, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times until the noise disappears.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Yeah i was going to say, how are the fluid levels in your reservoir. I keep a bottle of P/S fluid with me as mine leaks now and then and it does the same.

thanks for the tipI filled her up.. still made the sound..
So jacked it up, and turn the wheel left & right.. about 5min after doing it.. could not hear anyone sounds from the pump
Will be keeping an eye on it tho.. just to make sure!
thanks![]()

Not sure if you are interested or need it but i'm going to give this product a go. They're a reputable company and i haven't heard anything bad about them, and i'm sick to death of cleaning the driveway so why not.

some power steering pumps will make the 'moo-cow' noise even when they're good. i know mine does and it's a reco. but yeah the noise will get louder if the fluid drops, so just keep an eye on that. also make sure you're filling it to the correct level depending on whether it's hot or cold.
I filled up on cold engine.. filled it just over halfway.. didint wana over do it as ive seen a few people post up probs with it
And levy! Mine has no sound.. lol.. the pulley sound ya hear if your near its engine bay..but when drivin..its quiet
Sadly..im lookin at a new zort soon.. from the cat to the engine has begun to get holes in itBOO but its stock ..lol
and tim. My pump doesn't leak..but it wouldnt hurt to try it tho
in the back of my mind.. Im expecting the P/Ws pump to leak soon .. as its never (apparently) had its seal replaced
