$300 supplied and fitted would be a good price.

that's assuming a basic install of:

$100 for the unit including freight to your installer
$20 for diff oil to put in
    $10 for diff gasket
    $170 labour @ around $70/hour

allow up to $100 extra if they don't want to re-use axle seals etc, or are allowing for things to go wrong

I got mine completely rebuilt with a minispool centre and 2nd hand 3.08:1 gears (mine were cooked) for $650, that was for me just delivering them a rear axle out of the car. They replaced everything. Now after 20,000km my tailshaft is rooted but that's all part of the fun.

Pricing seems to vary with diff shops a LOT, some of these guys just seem to love sucking money from people. If you have the tools, put it in yourself and see how you go. It's fairly straightforward, although I did manage to completely shag mine (hence the rebuild)

Nah you probably just put yours together correctly I'm sure I shimmed mine wrong, even though I was so careful to get them all right, anything can happen with enough beers and tiredness but I love my minispool.

Unless you were talking about the tailshaft.. in which case, mine is only rooted because it's a flogged out 600,000km or so unit just about the only moving thing left on the car that is still original.

Come on mate, not hard, do a google search. Wikipedia has all the answers: Limited slip differential - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Read that, then if you have any questions, come back and ask. I've got a minispool, so have a number of other forum members here, I'm sure we'd all be happy to answer any questions you may have. Just remember, most of the info you'll need is only a quick search away. There must be over a hundred threads on minispools on this forum by now, hit up the search: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/search.php
