Righto.. so this mornin about 4am.. I went for a drive..
So I turned the heater on.. and a few seconds with the air-con.. I hear water being pushed around.. Slushing sounds every 3-4secs.. This normal?? never happens if I have it on Cold tho.. :S
BUT! heres the bit that will make you think...
Shortly after this noise..about 10min after.. The car began to overheat..Rather quickly! It wasn't a false readin..as the car lost a large amount of power (driving power)
so i pulled over where safe..turned on hazard light..to sus the engine.. Nothing seemed wrong..Didint feel hot enough to be doing what it did ! I looked under the engine to see if its leaking..But, not a thing..
So, to help cooldown her down.. I found a nice long quiet road.. pushed the car to 100k's .. but the temp was still going to the Red H !!!
As the road began to run out.. I slowed down.. **BUT**!! then the temp gauge dramaticly dropped! to halfway..
So I sat there for about 10mins.. sat at halfway with Thermo fan running.. but as soon i took off.. (gently) the temp gauge began to rise again..
AND again I noticed somthing new yet strange... when I applied small break pressure on the break peddel the temp gauge began to go down again..
What did I do to try to fix the prob:
Put my hand on the radiator cap, NOT HOT enough! it was warm.
Looked under the engine to see if it's leaking coolant or anything. But, nothin.
squeezed the hoses to see if it was pressurized.. which it was, but again.. the hoses were warm.. not HOT
Turned the car off.. watin 20secs.. turned the car on..fired up first go..
What I think is shagged:
Im pretty sure my thermostat is shagged.. Or the system might need a bleed..
*but all these problems only begun after i had the Heater on..and hear water slushin around!
Im about to do a ECU check right now ..
Any help or tips is highly welcomed
On behalf of my Vp and myself.. Thanks in advance!![]()
sounds like you have a blockage somwhere, id try running some radiator cleaner and it might fix it for you. if not try checking your heater tap (near Left hand header pipe) and make sure its doing its job and not broken
Real cars don't power the front wheels, they lift them
if you here the sloshing its got air trapped in the cooling system time to bleed it
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Update:
ECU test done: code 12 . No faults.
I let the car idle for 20min with A/C off.. after a wile it goes to halfway mark..then thermo kicks in. Works!
This time, I turned the A/C ON to HOT - 5min it went right up to HOT on gauge.. then 2-3min if dropped within 2secs to Quarter temp.. Thermo fan is running ..
BUT. If im driving with the A/C on Hot or cold.. The gauge will go to HOT. And will stay there until the Car has come to stop..(With the A/C still on!) then it will go to its normal temp on the gauge..
If im driving with A/C off, the temp sits at its normal operating temp.
So, im defiantly guessing time to bleed the system![]()
