Hey iam planning to do a v8 conversion on my 93 Vp commodore i was wondering if VS~VR kfram tail shaft gearbox mounts ect. Would fit properly in the Vp sedan. And can does it matter if the motor comes out of an older car then mine. Thanx for any help![]()
Yeah mate i will.
v8 kframe should be the same as the changes were only in the control arms/strut towers, vn-vs chassis is VERY similar, cant comment on tailshaft, not sure if the IRS/liveaxle tail shafts are different
motor is pretty much the same, VS had the "185kw" and the VP i had was a "180kw" small changes, the trans mounts are the same.
Gearbox is not the same, vn/vp had the T700 which had a kick down cable and no ecu for controlling gears, the VR/VS has functions for the shift points in the ecu, there are 2 different types of gearboxes for electronic ones.
what's the motor out of? aslong as its a EFI 304 its pretty much the same motor might want to check with the EPA, as long as it falls under the same EPA rules then its ok.
Those are the HSV figures. The holden motors were 165kw for VN-VR and VS were 168kw.
Technically by law, you can only fit a motor from the model of your car (ie, VN motor in VN, and VP Motor in VP). I'm sure there wouldn't be any problems when it is checked tho, since they are an identical motor with the same pollution gear.
