gearbox combination issues

i have a genuine from factory vn 5 ltre with the highly saught after engine

the issue that i have is that i would like to replace my original gearbox t5 with something a little more reliable

box has 157000k`s and mech tells me syncro`s are gone or on the way out

not really looking for 1200 smakers to replace

looking for alternative combination as have heard rumers that a celica 5 speed box will work just fine

No, you want a Supra 5 speed. Celicas are a 4 banger.

I strongly suggest that if you go down that path that you test drive a 5 litre that has already had the conversion done. The clutch is very, very, heavy, and shifts differently to a T5.

You could also invetigate a T56 conversion.

Also, what is the"highly saught after engine"?
