got a vn v8 in my vg ute runs well but, took it up the drags full tank gave it a bit for a few hours then turned it off to change tires. and it would kick over and barely start, when it did start i coughed and farted. waited 30 mins or so and it went good as new.
its the third time its happened. any ideas would be great
hows the cranking speed slow or normal ??? starters tend to get hot and jam or grind ok when cold but a bitch to start when stinking hot ??? has the solenoid got a heat shield over it ???
kicks over slow actually and will have a look at the heat sheild.
but even when sated it sounds crap like real bad
Hi mate, mine does the same after a nights racing, they just simply get too hot. Mine idles pretty rough when I start it after a meeting once it's had 30 minutes to soak up all he heat from the bottom end into the manifold and fuel rails etc. It's fine once it's up and driving and cooled down again. The slow cranking is a seperate issue kinda, thats because the starter is too hot![]()
maybe a good idea to install an oil temp gauge?
went up to DECA on the weekend in a mates car, its two small tracks and a skidpad, after each run we would check the water temps (no oil temp gauge yet) and wait till the water cooled down to around 85c then stopped the car and opened the bonnet up to help it cool some more. it was a warm day around 30-34c, so this was required considering it had a stock cooling setup.
You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in. This is your wake up call.
any way around it concking out or try keep it cool
p.s thanks guys
Thermo fans would let you cool it down after it was shut down but they might drain your battery pretty fast
wot he said ^^^^
